Underwater, Piper sees a beautiful view of food being revealed by the waves., Denouement/Resolution -  Piper happily gathers food and even feeds its mother. The story ends with Piper no longer afraid — brave, skilled, and independent., Falling Action - Piper realises the waves are not something to fear — they are an opportunity. Confident now, Piper catches food successfully and surprises the other birds., Exposition - The story begins with a baby sandpiper, Piper, living on the beach with its mother. Piper watches the mother catch food along the shoreline and is encouraged to do the same., Rising Action - Piper attempts to follow the mother to the shore but gets hit by a crashing wave. The experience is traumatic — Piper gets soaked and frightened, and refuses to go back. The other birds continue feeding, but Piper watches from a distance, scared.,
