It is treated by taking painkillers to relieve the symptoms and by having plenty of rest and fluids., Chicken pox - ____________ is identified by red, itchy spots and blisters over the whole body as well as a slight or moderate fever. These symptoms usually appear between 10 days and 3 weeks after the patient has been in contact with someone else who has the illness. The rash may be mild or spread over the whole body and the person is infectious until the spots have become scabs. Treatment involves painkillers and calamine lotion which cools the itchiness., Slapped cheek syndrome - _____________ is characterised by a bright red rash on the cheeks and is caused by a virus. The rash may be itchy and can spread over the body and be accompanied by a headache, runny nose and fever. It can sometimes last up to a month. The child or young person should rest and take painkillers and antihistamines if skin is very itchy., Impetigo - ______________is an infection which is particularly infectious in young children. It is characterised by red sores around the nose and mouth which can be very itchy. In some cases there may also be a fever. Treatment involves antibiotics. As it is so infectious, the child or young person should stay away from school or college until the sores have crusted over, or 48 hours after starting antibiotics., Mumps - ______________ is a painful swelling of one or both of the salivary glands, which are located under the ears. Patients may also be tired and achy and have a temperature. It is highly contagious and should be treated by isolating the patient and giving them painkillers and rest. The infection should pass in a week or two.,
