History/Current Events: Lots of people set goals that are easy to ignore and easy to do lazily; but those goals were far from the ones the famous first baseman Jackie Robinson made. During the early 20th Century segregation was one of America’s biggest problems. When Jackie Robinson was growing up he(who was black) didn’t get much of a chance at sports, but he kept trying and made it to the MLB. His career got him into the hard to get into Major League Baseball hall of fame. Jackie Robinson’s never give up mindset has truly influenced many others to this day., Many writers work very hard coming up with ideas and staying determined to publish it to become a big hit; however, none more so than J.K. Rowling. J.K Rowling is a famous writer who wrote a book called Harry Potter. She worked hard writing this story and was determined to finish it. When Rowling finished writing the book, she wanted to publish it immediately. Unfortunately, every publisher rejected it. She went to one last publisher, and her book got accepted. Rowling worked hard on the book, so she knew that she shouldn't stop now. She was determined and knew she should never give up, and that is how she got her book published., There are many different car companies around the world; one of the most known ones was Ford. The man who made it was named Henry Ford had to be determined and never give up to make this company and come up with outstanding ideas. Henry Ford is famous for creating the car company, Ford. When Henry Ford wanted to start his business, he failed three companies and went broke five times. But, by never giving up, Ford succeeded in his company. As his company progressed, he continued to make different types of cars that started to boost his company even more. Ford became a big company because Henry Ford stayed determined and never gave up. He knew if he stayed determined, his company would grow. , Throughout history, we see individuals never give up. One famous individual who performed perseverance is Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India. Gandhi studied law as a young adult. He later then became interested in political movements and took on one of the greatest challenges in history. He set the goal of giving independence to India in a peaceful and collected way. He led peaceful protests by sometimes not eating or moving for days while chanting for hours about the unfair treatment displayed by the British. Setting this goal of his, led to the success of India's independence from British rule. This victory of his gave him a great and successful career and an amazing historical name., Media: Many of the sons of the people in northern China had to be enrolled in war. But Mulan being a girl in the army didn’t stop her from being one of the best there. In the beginning, Mulan sees that her father is too ill to fight in the war. So she feels it is her responsibility to go instead of the father. When she leaves she figures out she signed up for much more than she could handle. When she was kicked out for being a girl she was determined not to quit. She ended up being the one to save China from the Hun Army. After being told she couldn’t do something just for being a girl had a real reason to prove everyone wrong. She had a real reason for joining the army instead of just filling in for her father., Having a disability can be a huge struggle in doing things and one person that had a huge uphill battle is August from the book Wonder. The book is about a boy who has a facial deformity. He never went to school before and when his parents want him to start going he gets extremely nervous. At first when he got there he struggled to make friends and can’t go anywhere without people looking at him weird. After a long time he eventually makes lots of friends at the school and even wins their highest honor for a student. As you can see it is very important to never give up because if august gave up he would have never had any friend and school would have been terrible for him for the rest of his life., One of the characters in a book you can learn alot from is the individual Stanley from Holes. He was accused of theft and as a punishment, he was sent to a camp where he is to work in the hot sun. He’s forced to dig one hole everyday that’s five feet deep and five feet in diameter. To do this, Stanley has to work hard and even on the day’s that he’s tired, he has to wake up early in the morning and finish what he’s forced to do. After all of that, he can take a shower and rest. He had to work hard and not give up, otherwise who knew what could happen if he didn’t obey the rules. As a result of his hard work, he had found something really valuable., Many characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had to work hard and stay determined no matter whatever happened. One such hero is Steve Rogers, a.k.a Captain America. At the beginning of the movie, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Steve Rogers is a sickly, frail, small boy in Brooklyn. He wanted to serve in the Army, but it was rejected due to his frail health. Despite that, he never gives up, and keeps on trying, and finally gets selected into a program that makes him into a powerful super soldier(a soldier with super strength).
