Directive - This type of leader is someone who's focused primarily on results and team efficiency. These leaders often make decisions alone or with a small and trusted group and expect employees to do exactly what they’re asked., Transformational - Someone who takes control, communicating with the group and creating a shared vision. Creating unity, developing bonds, creating energy, and instilling passion. , Delegative - Leaders who adopt this style have trust and rely on their employees to do their jobs. They don’t micromanage or get too involved in providing feedback or guidance. Instead, these leaders allow employees to utilize their creativity, resources, and experience to help them meet their goals., Transactional - This style, often referred to as managerial leadership, is a leadership style that relies on rewards (like bonuses) and punishments. This leadership style clearly emphasizes structure, assuming individuals may not possess the motivation needed to complete their tasks. This “give and take” leadership style is more concerned with efficiently following established routines and procedures than making organizational changes. , Democratic - A style that involves leaders listening to their team members' opinions and involving them in the decision-making process. This leader encourages open conversation and helps their employees to set goals, evaluate their own performance and motivates them to grow. This style requires leaders to be inclusive, utilize good communication skills, and, crucially, be able to share power/responsibility., Supportive - This type of leadership is based on providing resources to employees and coaching them to an end result. To accomplish this managers must provide tools, advice and other necessities that allow staff to complete tasks and projects with little or no supervision. The support level isn’t always related to the job level or seniority of the position. It assumes that different employees, regardless of their expertise, may require more supervision or help until they reach a certain level of comfort or independence. This approach also involves two-way constructive feedback between leader and team members.,
