Constitution - A constitution is basically the rule book of Australia, Commonwealth - This is where Australia became a Federation in 1901. All states combined under one constitution. , Governor General - This is the person who represents the King of England , Defamation  - when someone WRITES or SAYS something that will DAMAGE the REPUTATION of another person., Freedom of Assembly - This gives individuals the right to assemble (or come together) for a meeting or to protest the government or other organization., Bicameral System - This basically means that there is an Upper House and a Lower House , Unicameral - This basically means that there is only ONE house in the State , Common Law  - When you go to a court and the judge must interpret and decide on how to make a decision, Criminal Law - Criminal law is the body of law that relates to crime., Burden of Proof  - It is the prosecutions responsibility to give evidence against the defendant, Presumption of innocence - All people who appear in court are innocent UNTIL proven guilty., Beyond reasonable doubt - This is when the judge needs to believe (due to evidence) you are guilty. ​, Right Wing Politics - A political spectrum where political parties are more strict and conservative in their values , Left Wing Politics  - A political spectrum where political parties are more LESS strict in their values, Compensation for acquired property - The government may need to take over property from individuals or organizations. This may happen if they are building a new freeway or railway., Freedom of religion - The government cannot force anyone to follow a particular religion , Freedom of Conscience - means that we have the right to hold opinions and to express those opinions freely., House of Representatives - Another name for the Lower House , Senate - Another name for the Upper House , Trade Unions  - Unions which look after the welfare and wellbeing of TRADIES. , Invasion Day - This is how Aboriginal Australian's view Australia Day. Instead of celebrating it they see it as a day of sorrow.,
