Ten right handed healthy women were selected, Participants were located in an fMRI scanner, Before the experiment began they were told to view each picture image for the entire time it was displayed, They were shown the first scene (for 2.88 seconds in duration), They were asked to indicate how emotional the scenes were from 0-3, There was then an interval where they had to fixate on a cross (for 12.96 seconds in duration), In total, they were shown 96 scenes, 3 weeks later they were invited back, The experiment took place again with the 96 original scenes and 48 additional scenes that they hadn't seen before (foils), ppts were asked to indicate whether the image had been forgotten, had been remembered or was familiar to them, A correlational map was created to correlate brain activation with participants' arousal ratings and memory scores .
