Receptor cells in the pancreas detect high blood glucose, β cells secrete insulin, which enters the blood stream, Insulin causes more glucose to be taken up by the liver and muscle cells. Glucose converted the glycogen (Glycogenesis), Blood glucose levels fall back to normal level, Receptor cells in the pancreas low blood glucose, α cells secrete glucagon, which enters the blood stream, Glucagon acts on the liver and muscle cells, converting glycogen back into glucose (Glycogenolysis), Blood glucose levels raise back to normal level.
