1st Amendment - Freedom of religion, speech, the press, the right to assemble peacefully, and the right to petition the government, 2nd Amendment - The right to bear arms , 3rd Amendment - Prevents the government from placing troops in private homes (Quartering Act), 4th Amendment - No unreasonable searches and seizures (must have warrant), 5th Amendment - An individual cannot be compelled by the government to provide incriminating information about themselves , 6th Amendment - Right to a fair and speedy trial, 7th Amendment - Right to trial by jury , 8th Amendment - No excessive bail or cruel and unusual punishment, 9th Amendment - Rights not listed in the Bill of Rights are still granted to the people , 10th Amendment - Any powers not given to the federal government are given to the states , 13th Amendment - Abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except for punishment of a crime, 14th Amendment - Granted citizenship and equal civil and legal rights to African Americans and enslaved people who had been emancipated after the Civil War, 15th Amendment - Gave African American men the right to vote, 18th Amendment - Outlawed the production, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages (Prohibition), 19th Amendment - Gave women the right to vote, 21st Amendment - Repealed the 18th Amendment (undid it), 23rd Amendment - Provided that Washington, D.C. be allowed representatives in the Electoral College so that citizens of D.C. could vote in presidential elections even though they are not officially part of a state, 24th Amendment - Made poll taxes illegal , 26th Amendment  - Set the national voting age at 18 , 16th Amendment - Congress can levy an income tax ,
