Should we continue to assign homework to build more skills and cover more content, or is it not fair for students who have other obligations outside of the classroom? Are we doing the students a disservice by not requiring outside reading? If they aren’t reading outside of class, what are the options? , What efforts can/should we be making to diversify the curriculum? What are other PLCs doing?, To what extent should social emotional learning occur in the classroom? What would that look like?, Has our curriculum evolved enough to support 21st century literacies and competencies? What might need to be integrated / updated / refined / discarded?, How can grammar instruction be woven throughout curriculum 9-12? Since we know isolated grammar drills and exercises are not effective, and yet we know students still desperately need to learn grammar, what is the best approach? , Should research be limited to sophomore and junior year? Is this enough to adequately prepare them for research in college? Can / should we consider incorporating some degree of research at every grade level?, How can we incorporate more process over product with regards to writing? How can we move students beyond the CER format? Should we continue to prioritize typical CER essays, or move away from that and incorporate writing instruction that includes more varied and authentic types and purposes of writing?, Should late policies/penalties be set by the individual teacher, PLC, or department for major essays, etc.?.
