Mantle - A zone of hot rocks that lies beneath the solid crust., Mid-ocean ridge - Chains of mountains that run underneath the sea e.g. the Mid-Atlantic ridge., Hot Spots - When super-hot plumes of magma rise through the mantle. Some are at boundaries like Iceland but others are mid plate like Iceland., Divergence Zone (Constructive) - when two plates move away from each other e.g, Iceland, Magma - Molten (or semi-molten) rock stored in the magma chamber beneath the volcano., Clustered pattern - When something is in groups. Earthquakes often appear in group close together. e.g. China, Slab-pull - Gravity acting on these immense plates as rising magma drives them apart., Convergent Zone (Destructive) - When two plates move towards each other e.g. Ring of Fire, Linear pattern - When the pattern of something is line like. Volcanoes often appear in this pattern. e.g. west coast of the Americas, Crust - The thin outer layer of rock at the surface of the planet, Subduction - Denser oceanic crust is driven underneath lighter continental crust and is destroyed -> convergent/destructive, Ring of Fire - A line of highly active volcanoes that encircle the Pacific Ocean. Most are convergent zones.,
