Socrates:  He taught his students through repeated questioning.  He wanted students to find out answers for themselves and form their own opinions., He believed in the absolute truth and that in order for true learning to take place, people must first understand that they know nothing., Many Athenian leaders felt his teaching was dangerous.  As a result, he was found guilty of trying to cause a rebellion with young people and he was put to death., Aristotle:  Greek philosopher who taught the “golden mean.” This idea meant that people should live moderately, or in the middle., He was very interested in science.  He also wrote a book called Politics. In it he divided government into 3 types.,  Many of his ideas about government influenced America’s Founding Fathers., Plato: Greek Philosopher who was a student of Socrates who started a school called the Academy., He wrote The Republic that contained his ideas for a perfect society and government., We know about Socrates’ teachings because this philosopher wrote down Socrates’ lessons in the form of plays and dialogues (Socrates was a character who would teach some sort of lesson)., Thought society should be broken into three categories:  Philosopher Kings, Warriors, and the Common People,
